Patch 2.4.3 - They Have It Too Easy!

Published by Addict at 7:22 am under Technology Edit This

As I sat down to write this blog entry, I opened up World of Warcraft and a new patch began to load. Normally a flutter of excitement comes over me as I anticipate the update (being my suborn self I tend not to read patch notes ahead of their release date). This time however, mixed in amongst my joy and wonder, I felt a new feeling. I knew that the little bar filling with green meant a change in gameplay, and with it an obligation to write about the modifications!

Here is a link to the patch notes in question: Patch 2.4.3

The most apparent change has to be those lucky level 30’s being allowed to mount up and run 60% faster! It doesn’t take a genius to see this is Blizzard’s attempt to keep us interested and to encourage alts. However, from fear of sounding like an (adorable) pensioner, they have it too easy! This not only fastens the time it takes to reach the big 7-0, but the riding skill price has been reduced to a measly 35 gold! In my day we worked hard for something we wanted!

Apart from rogues experiencing a serious nerf to their ability Cheat Death, the only other slightly mentionable change is non-combat pets. There is a new one! [insert sarcastic gasp]

Does anyone see a reoccurring theme here? Yup, it’s yet another slight (and dare I say useless) addition to the game. I feel it has been introduced for one purpose and one purpose alone: to prevent Blizzard’s inbox filling up with complaints from ‘rather bored’ level 70’s quite so fast. Nothing left to do? Roll a new character! You don’t want a 7th alt? Go get this new pet! It will keep you entertained for a whole minute!

Roll on WotLK…
