2009 is almost upon us (actually, by the time most of you read this it will most likely all ready be next year). All the better I guess since you will be able to answer my question. I was just wondering, is it weird to see the new year in with World of Warcraft, and if not, how many of you will be doing it? From a personal prospective, I will most likely be spending it logged on. Let me explain why…
From the many years I have been playing the game, I have always enjoyed WoW festivities. And by this, I don’t mean the pretty decorations they put up or the seasonal gifts we receive. I am talking about the way people change around these times. Take my guild for example: we run stuff together constantly, we help each other out, and we sometimes disagree over the silliest of things. But, when we are together on a special occasion (like seeing in the New Year), it makes it clear to everyone how much we mean to each other. Sure, I have never met any of them and most likely never will (a sad fact indeed), but being wished ‘Happy New Year’ by them seconds into the new year pushes that other stuff aside. It makes the effort worth it. And, since we gamers are notorious for being better at complaining than applauding, it’s acts as a mutual understanding that we are thinking of each other at these special times of year.
I logged into WoW this Christmas after the family had gone and most of my own family were asleep. The amount of nice messages posted in the trade chat was rather heart-warming, and everyone appeared to be having fun. I think is great that once or twice a year everyone stops worrying about ‘hawt lootz’ and just enjoys each others company.
So here’s to you, my fellow gamers. Have a wonderful New Year!

As I was having a little look through the Screen Shots posted on the World of Warcraft website today, I noticed something bizarre. Sure, Horde might kick the Alliance’s ass when it comes to PVP. And sure, they might look 10 times meaner than the average Alliance player (well I guess Blood Elves could be the exception there, unless this is a parallel universe where being extremely camp is seen as threatening). Anyway, back to the original point of this post. No matter what they are doing, the Horde always seem to have something on their mind:

I guess they are not vegetarians!

It’s true. Subscriptions to World of Warcraft are still rising. It’s true, and it is crazy! Blizzard not only announced record breaking sales of Wrath of the Lich King (shock shock, right?), but now they are reporting nearly 12 million subscribers to their most successful game! How much would you love to be the creator of the Warcraft series right now?? Yeah, thought so…
So, with 5 millions people to play with (I presume 6 million of those subscribers are gold farmers of some kind), how many people do you actually communicate with? World of Warcraft is reported to be one of the most sociable games out there, but are your friend lists really that long? With the amount of times I have transfered servers (long story, I might bore you with it one day) I have very short friends lists. Also, with all the PUGs we are forced into now-a-days, how many of the players you think you stay in contact with? 50%? 25%? I would say 0.1% would be more accurate…
Maybe it’s just me and my unsociable ways, or maybe we are just getting pickier with who we make friends with. But lets face it, if they are good to talk to but suck at playing, then unfortunately they will not be getting added to my friends list… Meeow!

I know, I know, it’s the best idea ever, right?! Not just in World of Warcraft, but in the world! The idea is that some vendors could exchange their crappy weapons that no-one really wants for lotto numbers! It would cost us 1 gold for a few numbers, and if ours came up we would receive all the cash! Every Wednesday night everyone could pile into a city to watch the numbers being drawn! Or, instead of numbers, we could be given unique WoW related objects, which we turn-in to ‘Mr Lotto’ if we win. It’s perfect!
Actually on second thoughts, it does kind of defeat the purpose of ‘grinding’. Imagine how annoyed everyone would get it a level 17 Priest won 25,000 gold just by buying one lotto ticket. Damn those Priests!
You have to admit it would be fun though. Perhaps if (as a tester) it was incorporated into one of the seasonal events and ran every day for a week. That might work! *starts writing the letter to Blizzard*

I am currently in the process of leveling up my Tailoring. Now, it has been very (very) none-useful up to this point. The patterns they provide you with to level up are off no use to anyone, and the one or two patterns I have been luckily enough to get my hands on are just ridiculously hard to make! I counted how much making a level 78 robe would cost me (thinking it can’t be more than 100g). It was over 1000g…
Surprisingly, I never made it. But now I am nearing skill level 425, I have seen the light at the end of the long tunnel. It came to me in the shape of a rugged old carpet. Now, maybe it’s just my server but I have not seen a lot of these flying around, and that makes me want one even more. Looking at the materials, they seem rather pricey (understatement of 2008)! But in my slightly cross-eyed eyes, it looks alright. Maybe I am just looking for reasons to actually make something with my tailoring. Humph…
Please say something to stop me looking like a wanna-be Aladdin.

It’s been too long since I last made a new post. As a welcome back present there were 1200 comments awaiting me, the majority from spammers! Yay spam! To who ever employed them to spam my page: your little minions are doing their job correctly, you just failed to remember that little thing called ‘apporving comments first’… Sorry about that!
Anyway, World of Warcraft news! Wrath of the Lich King appeared to be an overall success. While online today, I spent the majority of my time listening to a guy whining on about having nothing to do now that he is 80. I guess my ‘Level 70 boredom no more’ posts will shortly be changing to level 80 posts. Personally, I have yet to reach level 80. I’ve been deliberately leveling slowly in an attempt to try and enjoy the experience. So far, I have had around 70% success with this tactic.
So, since it’s still the holidays I will be lazy and end this here. But don’t worry, I’ll get reacquainted tomorrow (and the next day and the next day and the next…)!
